Inside the experiment

A soft heart.
An ocean memory.

A bottlenose dolphin, cast in clear jelly over a milky belly. A round melon, a short beak, curved fins and a little crescent of a blowhole. The pink Boto study is a nod to the river dolphin.

Softness, with structure

A signed-distance shape becomes a surface-nets skin. A snapped hexahedral lattice, split into five tetrahedra per cell, carries the volume. XPBD volume constraints, co-rotational shape matching and floor friction keep it soft, coherent and grounded.

A stroke from within

Kick flukes changes the material’s rest shape: muscle strain lengthens one side of the body and shortens the other, preserving volume. The stroke travels into the tail. Blow releases a short chuff of jelly drops along the living blowhole axis. Catch them and toss them.

Light held in jelly

A clear coat, milky countershading and a darker pigment cape. Scars, the smile and face markings stay attached in rest space. Back-face thickness drives refraction and Beer–Lambert absorption; thin fins catch the light. A shadow map, contact occlusion and PBR Neutral finish the pale studio.
